Jackson Hole Real Estate: January 2010

Nearly 6 feet of snow fell and now there is a gorgeous bluebird day in Jackson Hole.  The picture below is a live shot from the top of the tram at about 1:45 MST.  Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and Grand Targhee have the most snow in the Rockies!  Get on your phones and book a trip.  If you are already here, get out and enjoy the snow.  I'll be out there tomorrow if you need someone to ski with!

Here are the 2010 Mortgage Projections from the Mortgage Bankers Association as well as some comments from T.R. Pierce, Mortgage Broker from the Bank of Jackson Hole. 

MORTGAGE BANKERS ASSOCIATION: 2010 MORTGAGE FINANCE FORECAST

 Attached please find the Mortgage Bankers Association's 2010 Mortgage Finance Forecast.  Existing home sales are projected to increase the second and fourth quarters of this year... while mortgage applications are projected to decrease in the fourth quarter!

 An important forecast is for interest rates... note that they are projecting interest rates to start increasing in the second quarter and to increase up to about 6.00% (thirty year fixed) by the end of the year.

 Clearly NOW is a great time for your buyers to purchase a home while interest rates and home prices are lower!

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort had nearly 5 feet of snow fall in the past week!!  This morning, not much has changed as I look out my window.  It just keeps on snowing!  It was an epic weekend of skiing and spending last season teaching my fiance has started to pay off!  We got some great runs in, although she did get buried a few times.  I skied right passed her once and could barely see her.  That's what happens when you wake up to 17 inches Saturday morning and 20 inches on Sunday morning.  Nice!!  The picture below is what it looked like all over the mountain.

Much needed snow is falling in Jackson Hole!!  We received 8 inches last night and we're supposed to get 6-8 inches during the day today.  Our total snowfall is nearing 200 inches.  Way down from last year, but it looks like there will be some powder to be had this weekend! Whether you are a local or a visitor, Jackson Hole Sports located in the Bridger Center across from the Gondola, is the place to service your skis and boots.  Due to the lack of snowfall there have been many obstacles that have been tearing up the bottoms of our skis.  My fiance had a large core shot to one of hers and the guys at Jackson Hole Sports had it fixed and back to her in 10 minutes and they are very reasonable in their pricing.  If you are having trouble with your boots or if you need new ones, they have a certified pedorthist on staff.  I would highly recommend Jackson Hole Sports to any of my friends or family.  They have a friendly staff and we have never had any trouble with their service.

The Blue Lion Restaurant in Jackson Hole, Wyoming still has the best rack of lamb I've ever had.  If you are visiting the Jackson Hole area or if you are a local looking for a place to go for a nice dinner, don't forget about the Blue Lion.  Sitting across from Mike Yokel Park, it is a quaint little home, usually with live music in the bar.  The restaurant is private and if you don't like rack of lamb, like my fiance, they have great fish and much more.  The Blue Lionalso provides a salad, starch, and vegetable with your entree at a reasonable price.  Thank you Bob for a nice treat last night.

Flying to Jackson Hole, WY.

Howdy Stranger! Yonder is Jackson Hole, The Last of the Old West.  Flying to Jackson Hole is easier than you might think!  While most mountain towns across the U.S. have cut back on flights, Jackson Hole has added for the Winter of 2010.  The skiing is getting better, so we hope to see you out here.  I would also love to show you what the real estate market has to offer in our striking bit of paradise here in the shadow of the Tetons.

It's finally snowing in Jackson Hole!  We all got got so spoiled last year with powder day after powder day.  I am getting excited to get out there every weekend and of course if there is an epic day, we will just have to get out during the week.  I will be posting pictures and stories of some of our out of bounds adventures here in Jackson Hole.  It sounds like Teton Pass is starting to ski well, although I have just been dreading that first hike up the mountain that humbles me so.  We are expected to get a foot of snow in the mountains over the next 24-36 hours and it looks like there are a couple more storms lined up.  Of course it's not all about the skiing.  Below is a picture of a snowshoe trek we took into Yellowstone Park to the Huckleberry Hot Springs, and there is plenty of snowmobiling to be had if that is your sport of preference.  On the side of this blog, you can check out links to the Jackson Hole snow report as well as the Jackson Hole Area Avalanche Report for the more adventurous.  I hope to see you all on the mountain!
